Permission and ftp access

Hello,

After wandering around other CMS, i get back onto TikiWiki cause this is the best ! :-)

But i have to clear the problems that make me look after another CMS.

The main problem was in the permission required for installation and tiki to run.

I have no console access so, my admin is ok to install the tiki script. While he do that, the files are APACHE owned and then i can't do nothing from ftp.

Is there a way to solve that ?

I want to be free to change files without asking my admin.

Hi

Because Apache owns the files, you can get apache to do whatever with them. Simply write a small PHP script to handle the files in the way that you want. Another solution is to install a php file manager.

Hi Damian !

I was sure you'll be the first to answer, biggrin

As i will forward this info to my server admin, can you explain a little more (i have understand what you mean without getting how to do realy do it) :

"write a small PHP script to handle the files in the way that you want. Another solution is to install a php file manager."

Better, do you know such a script ?

I just would like to remind that the goal is to set properly Tikiwiki as sinlpe as possible then that i'll be able to modify files on my own... not to get things more complicated ! :-)

Meanwhile... :-)

I have tried to modify the files owned by "apache" with the "file manager" included in my "Domain administration panel" (Plesk 6.0).

No good... Apache is a hard headed indian ! :-)
And i need to modifiy styles, translation, whatever...

So here how i see things (remember i'm not the pro here);

Or i change permission of all the files in a way Tiki accept it and i can modify the files,

Or i change my actual "file manager" for another "file manager" (my admin accept to install it),

Or i find a script (don't ask me to write it) that can handle the files the way i want.

... Well i guess i need some help ! confused
