Tiki Releases 8.4

The Tiki Community is proud to announce the release of Tiki 8.4. This release, with more than 150 code contribution by eight Tiki Community members, includes several fixes and updates.
Tiki 8.4

Among the new features are:
  • Several new, detailed user permissions
  • Support for stateful SOAP sessions
  • UI enhancements

This is the last planned release of the Tiki 8.x branch. Tiki Administrators using the 8.x version are encouraged to upgrade to this latest release, and then to Tiki 9.0 when it become available.

Tiki Wiki CMS Groupware Updates Tiki 6.7 LTS

The Tiki Community is proud to announce the release of Tiki 6.7 LTS (Long Term support Version). This release includes bug fixes and updates only — there are no new features in this release.

Thank you Egidio Romano (aka EgiX) for reporting a security vulnerability, which is resolved in 6.7

Tiki Administrators using the LTS version are encouraged to upgrade to this latest release. The Tiki 6.x branch will remain the Long Term Support version until the release of Tiki 10, planned for October 2012.

And stay tuned for the first public beta of Tiki 9.0, the next generation of Tiki Wiki CMS Groupware, that is expected to be available shortly. This new version contains a host of improvements in multiple areas and several new features. Refer to http://dev.tiki.org/Tiki9 for details.

TikiFest + Kaltura: Video development the wiki way

Members of the Tiki Community and Kaltura Team met just before Kaltura DevConnect 2012 to work on the Kaltura integration with Tiki Wiki CMS Groupware. This co-event, the second for the Tiki and Kaltura communities, was a great success. Over two days of work, team members completed more than 40 updates to the Tiki codebase. These improvements will be included as part of Tiki 10.0.

Some of the improvements include:
  • An improved Tiki plugin for embedding Kaltura media
  • Improved Kaltura administration, via Tiki
  • Configuration the of Kaltura Configuration Wizard (KCW) interface
  • and much more.


Tiki reaches 500 contributors with commit access

Tiki Security Patches Available for 8.3 and 6.6 LTS

The Tiki Wiki CMS Groupware project has released a security patch for its stable and LTS (long term support) versions. Both versions are available for immediate download.

Tiki 8.3 includes bug fixes and security patches. Tiki 6.6 LTS includes only the security fixes. Both releases address a Cross Site Scripting vulnerability (first reported by Mario Gomes) and a Null Byte Injection vulnerability (first reported by Egidio Romano aka EgiX). Both vulnerabilities are exploitable only by users with full administrator permissions. Refer to the release notes and change logs for complete information.

All Tiki administrators are highly encouraged to upgrade to version 6.6 or 8.3. You can download these versions (and all other Tiki releases) from http://tiki.org/download.





Tiki Community Presents Free Webinars

Tiki Wiki CMS Groupware will present a series of free webinars starting Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 21:00:00 UTC (find your timezone) using BigBlueButton (http://bigbluebutton.org). These webinars will allow the Tiki Community to introduce new features in current and upcoming releases of Tiki. Additionally, Tiki Developers will be able to show off their latest work and Tiki admins can give a virtual tour of their own sites.

The seminars are free for anyone with an interest in Tiki, wikis, and content management systems (CMS). Participants attending the seminars will use the Tiki + BigBlueButton integration. This integration features full audio and visual communication, chatting, desktop sharing, and much more... and requires only a browser! The seminars also allow the Tiki Community to "dogfood" these features!

The first webinar, on January 19, will feature a demonstration of Tiki Draw and Tiki Docs, a developer-led discussion of several upcoming features, and include plenty of open time for community discussion.

Tiki Wiki CMS Groupware 8.2 and 6.5LTS Security Patches Available

The Tiki Wiki CMS Groupware project has released a security patch for its stable and LTS (long term support) versions. Both versions are available for immediate download.

Tiki 8.2 includes several bug fixes, feature enhancements, and security fixes.

Tiki 6.5 LTS (Long Term Support) includes several bug fixes and two security patches. There are no new features in this release.

Both releases address an XSS vulnerability identified by Mario Gomes and Marc Laporte using the Vega security scanner and other XSS vulnerabilities reported by Stefan Schurtz. Refer to the release notes and change logs for complete information.

All Tiki administrators are highly encouraged to upgrade to version 6.5 or 8.2. You can download these versions (and all other Tiki releases) from http://tiki.org/download.

Tiki 8.1 Now Available, End-of-Life for Tiki 7.x

The latest version of Tiki Wiki CMS Groupware, Tiki 8.1 is now available for immediate download. This release includes many new features and improved functionality, with more than 3,200 code updates by 43 Tiki Community members. Review the Tiki 8 Release Notes (http://tiki.org/ReleaseNotes8.1) and change log for complete information.

Some key highlights of Tiki 8 include:
  • Improved internationalization (i18n), including better support for non-English characters in page names and complete translation of German interface items.
  • Improved (AJAX) interface for comments and support for Akismet spam protection
  • Integration with WebODF to support Open Document Format (ODF) in Tiki Docs.
  • Multiple enhancements to site search, such as indexing improvements, caching, and the ability to export search results as an RSS feed
  • Several new Tiki plugins
  • Update of the template engine from Smarty 2 to 3.
  • Security fix, first identified by Stefan Schurtz
This is just a small sample of what's included in Tiki 8.1. Refer to http://doc.tiki.org/Tiki8 for a full list of what's new.

You can obtain Tiki 8.1 (as well as all other Tiki releases) from http://tiki.org/download. The release of Tiki 8 marks the end-of-life for the Tiki 7.x branch. All Tiki Administrators running 7.x are highly encouraged to upgrade to Tiki 8.1.
